...humans are no longer in control
The World
No on can place the exact day that it started, or the very first place it began. Slowly, and mostly devoid of violence, an alien race known most basically as "souls" had begun to take over the human race all across the world. A soul pairs itself with a human body, taking charge of every nerve ending, every mental function, until the consciousness of the human that once had charge of the body was all but erased.
Most souls are peaceful, gentle creatures. They do not lie, and they believe in equality for all. They have taken over many worlds before, and try not to change too much about the planets they take over - except for a few things to make them better. Once the souls took over, money was abolished and all products were made of only the finest quality.
The exception to peaceful souls are the Seekers. Seekers are much more given to violence, can lie, and aim to eradicate the rest of the remaining humans. In order for the souls to retain control over the world, all humans need to be taken care of.
Any humans who have escaped the invasion have gone into hiding. Some travel alone, while others have found pockets of humans and made a home together. No human is ever safe, but they must fight to survive in a world where their race is almost extinct.
The Site Plot
Set roughly 5 years after the initial invasion, we follow the path of two different areas in which humans struggle to survive and souls thrive.
Located in a series of caves in the Arizona desert, a group of humans have carved out a living for themselves. They live underground and barely ever see the full light of day. The soul town of Terrence is close by, and unknowingly helps support these rebels.
A pocket of humans have found a place to call home among a set of hills along the Rocky Mountains. Together, they support and defend each other against the dangers of the outside world in the effort to keep surviving. They've come from all over to find this place that can be safe. The nearby city of Merena is populated by souls and has the occasional quiet raid for the rebel's sustenenace.
Will the souls ever find those humans, or will the humans remain safe?
